Terrible Horrible
In case you didn’t hear, it’s been a bit windy in Los Angeles lately. The front door of my apartment building shattered, which left me with a weird internal dilemma when I arrived home. Do I walk through it, or open the now empty frame?
I live near Griffith Park in Los Angeles, an we lost power what felt like every five minutes for the past two days. So far it’s been fine today, the wind seems to have decided to move on. The wind did its best to knock over as many trees in Los Angeles as it could, and boy was it successful.
This week in general has been pretty unlucky for me. My iPod randomly broke, my apartment building hasn’t had hot water since yesterday (they say they’re working on it), and I’m having a weird allergic reaction to who knows what that’s caused the left side of my face to swell up. It looks like I’ve had some bad collagen injections, which would be funny except I live in Los Angeles, where there’s a very real possibility people would actually think that. This week has been a pretty stark contrast to last week, which was so excellent.

Books!
I’ve been pretty lazy about keeping up with what books have been coming out lately, and I don’t own an e-reader or iPad, so I have to actually leave the house to find new books to read, and who needs that? Wow, I just re-read that sentence, I’m lazier than I thought.
Since the weekend is coming up, I figured now would be a good time to compile my winter (and spring!) reading list. Why not read along with me?
- Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? Mindy Kaling’s new book. I got it in the mail yesterday, so far it’s absolutely delightful!
- If You Ask Me (And of Course You Won’t) Betty White’s book, it’s been sitting on my shelf since May, and that’s my bad.
- Bossypants Tina Fey’s book, I got halfway through, put it on my bookshelf and promptly forgot I had it. Again, that’s on me. To be fair, I moved apartments at the time and had a new job, so I think I’m excused.
- The Scribblings of a Madcap Shambleton Noel Fielding of The Mighty Boosh released a book of artwork, though it’s not out in the US until spring. Fielding is bizarre and hypnotizing, he’s just so weird, I can’t look away!
I think that’s probably enough for me to read right now. What are you reading right now? Anything I should add to my list?

Hey There, Friend!
The past month has been absolutely ridiculous for me, especially considering I don’t have an actual job right now. I started a website & podcast with some friends, please check it out when you can. I’ve spent most of my time in the past month putting it together & making it look pretty. Considering none of us who work on the site really know that much about running a website, it’s kind of amazing what we’ve come up with. The site is called Hello Nerds, but you don’t have to be a nerd to enjoy it. Trust me, I’m a cool nerd.

Let’s Moonwalk!
It was pouring down rain this morning when I woke up, so clearly the jog I had planned was cancelled. Instead I decided to try to learn how to moonwalk, it’s about time, right? So topical. Quick word of advice, if you have all carpet floors in your apartment like me, it’s not going to happen. Lay down a few broken down cardboard boxes and give it a shot.
I only fell twice! Hooray! It’s an inner ear thing, guys. I don’t have a great sense of balance. Let me know how you did! I still look like I’m just shuffling around, but I plan to keep practicing.
